The technical writer is responsible for authoring product documentation for internal (company’s) and external (clients’) use.

Understand our Propositions and Products

  • The technical writer should have a deep understanding of the purpose of the proposition, the business problem it is trying to solve, the product(s) that enables this solution and the type of users that operate the product.
  • The technical writer is expected to gain this understanding by working closely with Product Managers throughout the Product lifecycle (from Concept to Launch).

Involvement in Product development

  • During Product development, Technical writers will create technical documents against user stories as part of the development sprints.
  • During the Product design stage, Technical Writers must work closely with Product Managers to provide UX inputs or work with UX experts (if any) to ensure UX design decisions are in-line with business or technical objectives.
  • The Technical Writer is expected to act as a proxy for the end user and provide feedback to Product Managers on how to effectively communicate usage of the product to the intended user.

Design, produce and maintain all product-usage collateral

  • Design and write product documentation for technical users that use, configure or integrate with a product. Tech writers must determine best approaches to documentation depending on the audience.
  • Be the central point of contact across the business for all Product technical documentation and maintain an up-to-date repository of the same.
  • Select most appropriate platform to deliver and maintain content – identify and manage appropriate technology to facilitate the maintenance and upkeep of product documentation (e.g. online interactive documentation tools, automated documentation – Swagger, APIary etc).

Documentation support to other departments

  • Assist product documentation activities in other business units within the company (e.g. inputs to RFPs in the Solutioning team or providing product documentation to Marketing for creating marketing collateral).
  • A Technical writer at the company should primarily focus on technical product collateral intended to assist product end users. Writing Product marketing collateral does not fall within this responsibility; However, tech writers may be expected to provide inputs to marketing if required. 


  • 3+ years of experience within payments or financial services working as a Technical specialist, Business Analyst, Product Owner or Technical Writer.
  • A good understanding of the entire payments ecosystem and its full value chain with a grasp of the various players and their responsibilities.
  • Prior experience in technical documentation of web services and APIs.
  • A good command of the English language.
  • A basic understanding of software development lifecycles (AGILE and Waterfall) and prior experience of working in such environments.
  • A good understanding of JIRA.
  • A keen sense of gauging the target audience and positioning product documentation as per varying levels of understanding and interest.
  • Good communication skills and proven experience of working with multiple product teams.
  • Ability to juggle a backlog of work from various product streams and decide on priorities.
  • Attention to detail, managing time and organising meetings with various internal stakeholders to obtain inputs for product documentation.
