The role of the Technical Support Engineer entails:

  • Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications, with a special focus on Microsoft and Apple products;
  • Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks;
  • Talking to staff and clients through a series of actions to help set up systems or resolve issues;
  • Troubleshooting system and network issues and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults;
  • Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports;
  • Supporting the roll-out of new applications;
  • Setting up new users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues;
  • Responding to call-outs, process tickets;
  • Prioritizing and managing many open cases at one time;
  • Rapidly establishing a good working relationship with customers and other professionals;
  • Testing and evaluating new technology;
  • Follow-up and closing open tickets in a timely manner;
  • Following company processes and procedures for support;
  • Being pro-active and with a customer first mind-set.


  • Ideal candidates will have at least two years’ experience supporting customers in an IT environment, and hold a higher National Diploma or similar qualification.
  • Candidates must possess a sound knowledge of supporting desktop users on Windows and Apple hardware and an understanding of Windows Server products.
  • Basic management of Hyper V and VMWare environments, knowledge of Android and Apple devices, understanding of information security policies and Microsoft Active Directory and Domain User creation and Office 365 user management are critical.
  • Candidates holding certifications such as Comptia A+, Server+ or Network+, CCENT or CCNA will have advantage.
