O que procura nos candidatos

Candidates applying must satisfy the following eligibility criteria on the closing date for the submission of applications:

• Successful completion of university studies attested by a degree relevant to the field concerned of at least 3 years, plus 1 year of appropriate professional experience;
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience after achieving the qualification set out above.

In addition, in order to be eligible a candidate must:

• Be a national of one of the member countries of the EEA (Member States of the European Union plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey);
• Enjoy full rights as a citizen;
  
• Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by law concerning military service;
  
• Have a thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the EEA member countries, and a satisfactory knowledge of another of these languages corresponding to level B.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for languages CEFR;
  
• Meet the character requirements for the duties involved;
  
• Be physically fit to perform the duties linked to the post.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Essential:

• Excellent knowledge of and experience with environment and climate change assessments of the agricultural sector;
  
• Detailed knowledge of EU and national climate change adaptation and mitigation policies and the Common Agricultural Policy;
  
• Excellent project management skills and experience, including delivery of complex projects involving a variety of stakeholders;
  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrable ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multicultural environment (Will only be tested at the stage of interview/written test);
  
• Excellent command of written and spoken* English language, at least at level C1 in all categories according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Language.

Advantageous:

• Experience in using remote sensing techniques for land management practices;
• Experience with the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions and removals in the agricultural sector;
• Proven experience working with European Union and/or international institutions.

Que funções irão desempenhar

Under the responsibility of the Head of Group – Adaptation and LULUCF, reporting to the Climate Change, Energy and Transport Programme, the expert shall be responsible for supporting EU climate policy making and implementation with data, indicators and assessments on the role of agriculture in climate mitigation and adaptation policies.

The position will entail the following tasks:

• Support the monitoring, reporting and verification of agricultural emissions data and information reported under regulation EU (2018/1999);
• Perform assessments at the European level on agricultural greenhouse gas emissions and the vulnerability of the European agricultural sector to climate change and the required mitigation and adaptation measures taken at sector and farm level;
  
• Perform assessments on the effect of agricultural land management practices on carbon sequestration and biodiversity related to climate change impacts and sector policies;
  
• Collaborating with and supporting capacity building in EEA member and cooperating countries;
  
• Networking and communicating with relevant stakeholders, including European Commission services, EEA member countries, and expert and research communities.
